Playdough making for Room 11!

On Friday afternoon for PLAY BASE LEARNING - Room 11 decided to make playdough! It was fun, hands-on, practical and we had a blast.

Samoan Language Week UMU 2018

Lastweek we celebrated SAMOAN LANGUAGE WEEK and to finish off the week, some of Room 11 (Mario, Raymon, Evan, Dadak-Su, Juan, Alfonzo and Po Lu) Mr Numia and Mr Faalili (our teacher aide) made an umu - a traditional way of cooking in most Pacific Islands, including Samoa.

In our Umu, we had Taro, Fa'i (Green Banana), Luau (Taro leaves saturated in coconut cream), Ulu Pua'a (Pig Head) and Moa (Chicken). On the side we had surimi salad made by Miss Tupou and Sapasui (Chop Suey) made by Mr Faalili - with help from Paige, Amy & Precious.

Room 11 ANZAC work

ANZAC POST

For our first week back, we focused on ANZAC and its' relevance to us as learners in Aotearoa. We looked at letter extracts from 1915 to photos and videos about World War 1.

Dawn Raid Writing

Room 11 were motivated to write some awesome poems based on the Dawn Raids after watching a video.

We looked at Migration as part of our Inquiry focus and somehow, our class took an interest in the Dawn Raids the Polynesians experiences in the 70's.

Why do we read?

For reading today Room 11 had jotted down on the whiteboard their thoughts on "Why We Read". I feel like they did an awesome job and it was worth posting. So here is an image of Room 11's answers and thoughts on why we read at Glen Taylor School!

Turbo Touch!

This morning Room 11 had their third session of Turbo Touch! The had got split into two teams of five. Norelle (the coach) would blow the whistle and four people from the attack side had to try goal and three people from the defend side had to defend the attackers. Room 11 enjoyed their third session of turbo touch, we can't wait for next week!
