Tamaki College Experience Day for Y8 students

On Wednesday the 30th of August 2017. The Year 8 students spent the day down at Tamaki College for a 'college experience day'. Students were fortunate to experience what it would be like for them next year at high school. We had some current Y9 students who finished from GTS last year look after us for the day!

Maritime Museum Trip

Tuesday 29th August - Room 7, 11 and 12 made their way down to the viaduct and spent the day at the Maritime Museum.

Whiz Kids Program

Today, we had our first out of five WhizKids science sessions. 25 Y4-8 students is part of this program and it will run till the end of the term - once a week.

Our focus for today was the 'Fizz Inflator'. Jess from Baradene College was our science facilitator. We had an awesome time experimenting and learning about gases, liquid and solids. Check out our photos!

BNZ Closed for good day

We had the awesome team from BNZ come into school to talk about financial literacy with some of our classes.

Term 3 Powhiri

Here are some photos from our Term 3 Powhiri. The purpose of this Powhiri was to welcome new students and Whanau into the GTS learning community. 

We also give thanks to the wider members of the community who gave generous donations toward our school KapaHaka uniforms. GTS appreciates you all.

We had amazing performances from the KapaHaka and our world famous Pasifika Pearls.

One of the best Powhiri's GTS has experienced - I must say.

Blessing of our Kapa Haka Uniforms

Today we had Papa Big and the Ruapotoka Marae come to school and bless our new Kapa Haka uniforms. Our school Kapa Haka performed a couple of waiata's. Great to see more involvement from the community through sharing Tikanga Maori experience.

Our GTS Manaiakalani ambassador - Room 11's very own HONEY!

This morning at Somerville School, Honey went on behalf of GTS to present her Inquiry research for the term. Being the Manaiakalani ambassador, every term, she meets with the other ambassadors and present their inquiry research to each other, their teachers and very important members of the Manaiakalani trust.
